On a Boat in the Willamette

This weekend we went fishing in a boat but sadly caught nothing. Of the hundred or so boats in the water only 3 fish were caught. The water was way to murky and the Chinook Salmon were spooked. But I spent a lovely 8 hours in boat which was oddly relaxing for me and chilled out. Sunday was spent cleaning, organizing, and relaxing after a big meal of cobb salad, corn on the cob drizzling with butter and garlic salt, red potatoes drizzled with butter (notice the theme?) and olive oil, and (hatchery we caught) steelhead salmon with dill, lemon, parsley, and sour cream. No pictures sadly...I ate too fast and forgot.

Heat Wave and My Weekend Escape

This weekend us Portlanders got a bit of a heat wave (which for us is about 80 degrees) but we aren't used to it. So we escaped to the coast for a drive. I went on a hike (3400 feet up) which kicked my butt but I got some great exercise and a great view. I also went to Sauvie Island to read on the beach with a great book while he fished. Of course I ended up with an embarrassing sun burn (oops) but I loved the sunshine and warm weather anyway. And I planted some vegetable and fruit plants because it is a Portlander thing to do when it gets warm...grow your own food. I just hope I keep everything alive.

Weekend Warrior

I had a wonderful weekend of roadtripping in Oregon again. It was sunny so we took the opportunity to hike in Tillamook Forest and squeeze in some time at the beach. It was very relaxing!

Then on a lazy Sunday after making a huge breakfast we drove to Sauvie Island, which is about 20 minutes from Portland, to watch the fisherman catch huge salmon and walk on the beach there. I can't wait to return in Summer when all the farms are ready for Portlanders to come pick there own fresh blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and corn.

Southern California Sun

I just got back from visiting the Los Angeles area and I must say it was wonderful being soaked in a warm sun and blue skies. Perfect weather. Needless to say it is really hard to be back today at work at my desk locked in an office. If only I could live there! But real life calls me back.
